About this Jesus, Francis Schaeffer said, “I have with sorrow become more afraid of the word ‘Jesus’ than almost any other word in the modern world. The word is used as a content-less banner, and our generation is invited to follow it. There is no way around it, these statements in Hebrews about Jesus, who is the Christ, are definitive. They leave no room for debate. They are monumentally exclusive. They differentiate Jesus from all other religious claims, and set an eternal marker by which all of God’s human creation will be judged….or blessed.
Looking at the powerful statements that introduce this treatise called “Hebrews,” we are left with only a few conclusions. Either the writer is a deceived or purposeful liar, or, the words are divinely inspired.
In a world swirling with confusion, deception, disagreement and theological chaos, Christians can and must take a stand with the revealed word of God about the Son of God.
Everything else we confess, pales in the face of the person of Jesus.
